Occupational Therapy Assistant

Role Overview: Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, plans and implements treatment programs for patients across all ages within an interdisciplinary framework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise positions such as students, volunteers, and observers.
• Develop and execute patient-specific therapy plans following accepted practices.
• Assist with patient care, including physical activities and mobility support.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing protective equipment and handling hazardous materials.
• Adjust activities based on patient needs and activity conditions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical strength to lift, push, or pull loads up to 50 pounds.

Sufficient mobility, stamina, and endurance for frequent location and position changes.

Ability to handle emergency situations and may require irregular hours.

Willingness to wear protective gear and work in potentially hazardous environments.

Physical activities include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting.

Visual & Hearing Requirements:

• Must be able to see with corrective eyewear.
• Must be able to hear clearly with assistance.

Additional Conditions:

• Exposure to infectious, contagious diseases and toxic chemicals possible.
• May involve irregular hours and handling emergency situations.
• Physical activities involve continuous sitting and occasional walking, standing, bending, and other movements.
